Casa Adelita was built in the late 18th century, when San Miguel de Allende was still called San Miguel El Grande. This city served later as a setting for the War of Independence of 1810. At that time, Casa Adelita boasted a larger expanse of land, encompassing a charming courtyard with orange trees and gardens. Remarkably, beneath these grounds, tunnels were constructed, serving as a refuge to the churches during times of persecution (one of these tunnels is under the pool). During this time, the name of the owners is unknown. In the 19th century it became the residence of the Zavala family for several generations.
