A native from Pittsburgh, Karen holds a B.A. from Boston University with degrees in Economics and Spanish. Karen had the fortune to meet a wonderful guy that whisked her away to Mexico for “a few years”. That turned into 27! Karen and her husband lived and raised their three children between Mexico and Venezuela, and through those years, visiting San Miguel on a regular basis, developing a warmth for the colonial city. They have been home owners here for several years.

Karen has an entrepreneurial spirit. After years in the banking industry and a move to Mexico, she began an in-house cooking school called Karen’s Kitchen, where she taught the expatriate community culinary delights for nearly 10 years. A job opportunity moved the family to San Antonio, TX, and Karen decided it was time to take her love of decorating to the next phase. She began Beckhart Interiors, a Professional Luxury Home Staging business where she successfully worked with Realtors and Clients staging homes from $1,000,000 to $4,000,000 USD. Karen holds two staging designations; a Certified Staging Professional (CSP) and the Accredited Staging Professional (ASP). She is also a member of the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) in San Antonio.

Through constant work with Realtors, Karen recognized that for most people, a home is their largest purchase and biggest asset, and decided to take things to the next level. Karen holds a Real Estate License in Texas and works both in San Miguel and San Antonio, bridging the two cities. Customer relationships are her strong point. Karen will join forces with both Martha and Sissie to create a unique Team in colonial San Miguel.

Karen is fully bilingual and bicultural. She enjoys reading, traveling, continued education, and loves to cook and entertain for her family and friends.
